ITV The Summit prompts divided reaction as viewers fume Ben Shephard series ‘seems set up’

ITV’s new actuality present The Summit has sparked a divided response from audiences following its premiere this week.

The journey collection, introduced by This Morning’s Ben Shephard, sees 14 strangers tasked with scaling one among New Zealand’s most dramatic peaks within the South Island Alps.


Contributors have a fortnight to succeed in the mountain’s summit whereas vying for a share of £200,000 in prize cash.

The format carries a particular twist: individuals should bodily carry the money they hope to win all through their journey.
